JOHN WILLIAMS VISITS THE LACC MUSIC DEPARTMENT
On April 2 the Music Department welcomed Academy Award–winning composer, conductor, and alumnus John Williams to LACC. In thanking us for the “fantastic job” and our “commitment to the college and our students,” LACC President Dr. Jamillah Moore stated that “the event was a huge success and a wonderful showcase of the talent and opportunities that exist at LA City College.”
According to one attendee of the concert and Q&A, the school “has done for [our] students and for this college a most excellent service. It was a moving and meaningful evening, beautifully done. The generosity and wisdom, the music and collaboration of serious and giving people…was great….It was a landmark, an important event. And that it was focused on students and a man whose message was clear and deep, made it especially touching.”
The Composers Club concert, also attended by Mr. Williams, had over 200 attendees and was an unqualified success.

LACC Chamber Chorale Goes to San Francisco
Students from the Chamber Chorale (Music 561) attended the 2007 MACCC (Music Association of California Community Colleges) Conference in San Francisco, performing with over 200 students from Community Colleges throughout the state.
